Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future
In the spirit of Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future: “reconciliation is about establishing and maintaining a mutually respectful relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples in this country.
“In order for that to happen, there has to be awareness of the past, acknowledgement of the harm that has been inflicted, atonement for the causes, and action to change behaviour.” (Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future: Summary of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation, The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada)
Land Acknowledgement
The Prescott and Russell Law Association respectfully acknowledges that the land on which we stand and the waters from which we benefit are located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Anishinaabe people, including the Algonquin of the Ottawa River. We also acknowledge that the territory encompasses the traditional and treaty lands of the Haudenosaunee people, including the Mohawk Nation.
We acknowledge these First Nations for their guardianship of this land, and we honour them. We are grateful for the past, present, and future contributions made by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in sharing and strengthening our communities.
