If you are unable to afford a lawyer because of low income, you may be eligible for Legal Aid. The Ontario system of legal assistance is administered by Legal Aid Ontario, an independent corporation controlled and financed by the Ontario Government.

If you are eligible, you may have the assistance of a lawyer who accepts Legal Aid. Those members of the Prescott & Russell Law Association who accept Legal Aid are indicated in our Members Directory.
Family Law Information Center (FLIC)
The Family Law Information Centre has Advice Lawyers who provide low income clients with free assistance and information on family law issues. You will receive assistance to prepare/review documents, and obtain legal advice on family law matters.

Legal Aid Duty Counsel
Legal Aid Duty Counsel Lynn Bradley in the Ontario Court may be able to help you. If you qualify for Legal Aid, Ms. Bradley can appear for you on minor matters, and assist on first appearances before the court, as well as advising as to whether or not you need a lawyer.
All services are available in English and French.

Prescott & Russell Community Legal Aid Clinic (Clinique juridique de Prescott et Russell Inc.)
The Clinique has provided legal and para-legal services to residents of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell since 1984. It is part of a network of independent, community-based legal clinics funded by Legal Aid Ontario.
The Clinique provides legal services for the following matters:
- Tenant’s rights
- Ontario Works (social assistance)
- Ontario Disability Support Program
- Canada Pensions Plan (retiring and disability pensions)
- Employment Insurance denials
- Employment Standards
The Clinique does not provide legal services for criminal, or family law matters.
